Find answers to all your questions about Momentum and our traceability platform.
Our platform gathers product and supply chain information directly from supply chain partners (primary data) whereever possible. This information helps brands and suppliers enhance their products and supply chains environmentally and socially. They can then share this validated data externally through a Digital Product Passport, which includes confirmed details about the product's journey and its environmental impact.
With our platform brands and suppliers can seamlessly interact with each other. Brands can invite suppliers and request eco footprint data from them in real-time.
With our platform suppliers can easily provide eco footprint for their brands. Through our huge amount of possible integration with several other solutions suppliers only have to provide their data once to please all of their brands.
The EU Digital Product Passport is a component of the EU's Circular Economy Action Plan. It provides a digital record of a product's lifecycle, including materials, production processes, and recycling information. Brands need it to ensure transparency, enhance sustainability, and comply with EU regulations.
The exact date when the Digital Product Passport (DPP) will become mandatory for the textile industry depends on the specific regulations set by the European Union. However, it is expected to be fully mandatory by mid 2027, according to the plan from the EU Commission.
The Digital Product Passport (DPP) is set to become an integral part of the textile industry's push towards sustainability and transparency. While it is true that a significant portion of textiles are produced outside of Europe, the EU plans to enforce the DPP for all products entering its market. This means that regardless of where a textile product is manufactured, if it is to be sold in the European Union, it must comply with the DPP initiative. This ensures that all textile products within the EU, whether produced locally or imported, meet the same sustainability and traceability standards, fostering a global shift towards more responsible production practices.
By adopting the DPP, brands can accurately track and report on sustainability metrics such as carbon footprint, recyclability, and material health, promoting transparency and informed consumer choices.
All brands that sell textiles in the EU are subject to the ESPR regulations.
The general requirements for digital product passports under the ESPR propose that:
Momentum utilizes automated data collection tools that integrate with suppliers' systems to streamline the process of gathering necessary information for the DPP, saving time and reducing errors.
